Tuesday: 01/19/16

4th period - L.A.
**Starting this week, you will all be REQUIRED to read 30 mins. a day outside of school. There will be a Reading log entry due by the end of the week! It can be found in your Google Classroom folder.**

1. Independent reading - AR (this does not count towards your Reading Log entry)
  • if you don't have an AR book or have already finished your book(s) pick and choose an article from NewsELA (your choice).
2. Guided Activity
A diamante poem can be about any topic. However, the form of the poem needs to follow a strict pattern. Let's take a closer look at an example:

                               square
                                                               symmetrical, conventional
                                                           shaping, measuring, balancing
                                                              boxes, rooms,
 clocks, halos
                                                     encircling, circumnavigating, enclosing
                                                                          round, continuous
                                                                                      circle

Now you give it a try! You can find the assignment in your Google Classroom Folder.

3. Continue working on your "I am From" Poem. (this will be due by Friday).
  • finished? By now you should have the Acrostic poem complete as well. If you don't it's LATE, but you can still submit it to Google Classroom for credit.
5th period - S.S.
1. CNN Student News - This Tuesday, they're featuring stories related to Martin Luther King, the Iran nuclear deal, the goal of landing a rocket, and the largest dinosaur on record.

2. Google Drawing of South Asia. Use the textbook as a resource if needed. You will draw it out, DO NOT copy and paste from Google Images!

*Remember, South Asia is not just India! It includes other smaller countries as well!
  • Make sure to LABEL the major river systems, seas/oceans, mountain ranges, and bordering countries that make up South Asia.

3. Study the geography of South Asia. You will have a Quiz on Friday!
